I wanted to create section of my work dedicated to teaching Tarot to people and Tarot Card of The Day posts are a great place to start I feel. Welcome to the first post in this series. I am randomly drawing the Tarot Card of the Day after shuffling my deck. Today the card is the Five of Swords!
Now this card, on the surface is about fighting with others that you have a disagreement with. The character depicted in this card doesn’t play fair with his enemies at all. He is sneaky, petty, and will do anything to win at whatever the cost is. The guy on the card is the incarnated archetype of your typical Narcisitic abuser.
This guy takes joy in his petty weak victories that he only obtains at the expense of others which he cares nothing about. As you can see in the Rider Waite card this duck takes joy in his enemies not only losing but the senseless destruction rooted in his cunning deceit. The psycho is getting off to the bull he has caused others to endure.
You see the swords that he is holding were likely won out of an act of ultimate sneakiness and lies. The five of swords energy starts problems where they shouldn’t be and aren’t needed. The work place the home nothing is off limits to these kind. In a nut shell they are weak and petty narcs because they feed on things that are just stupid. I’ll stop ranting about this petty guy crushing skulls the wrong so we can get to other meanings of the card s well as how to use them in Witchcraft!
Tarot Card of The Day Meaning
The Five of Swords appears when themes of conflict, tension, or a recent disagreement may be influencing your day. Often representing both internal and external battles, this card suggests a situation where tensions run high, and a “win-at-all-costs” mindset could cloud judgment. It’s a prompt to reflect on whether the cost of victory is worth it. Even if you’re “right,” ask yourself if the conflict aligns with your values or if it leaves others feeling disregarded.
In its positive aspect, the Five of Swords may indicate the need to stand up for yourself and communicate your boundaries clearly. However, it also warns that being overly defensive or forceful can lead to isolation or regrets. Today, consider your words and actions carefully, try to find a path that respects both your needs and those of others. This card is a reminder that sometimes true strength lies in stepping back to find peace rather than pursuing every argument.
Witchcraft Correspondences for The Five of Swords
Element: Air
Energy: Instability, exaggeration, over exertion, strife, changes, freedom, loss
I would use the Five of Swords in any spell I want to crush someone in a disagreement. You can simply light a black candle, place the card next to it with an incense stick burning, all these things cooperating in my intent to dominate this situation. Morning Glory is actually a very very good binding ingredient and would go great in spell work like this. You can be creative as you like in using the energy released when this card is implemented in your magic.
